School Regulations
School rules are kept to a minimum and are concerned mainly
with the health and safety of all pupils and the governing
principle of consideration of others. IPS believes that
children should develop self-discipline which is based on
a sense of responsibility, an understanding of rules and
a caring attitude for others as opposed to fear. The school
therefore aims to correct rather than to punish children's
failures and to use them as opportunities for learning.
In September 1999 a school uniform was introduced. All children
are expected to look neat and tidy at all times. White shorts
must be worn on physical education days, long hair should
be tied back and children may not wear rubber thongs or
open shoes to school.
School Clinic
A fully qualified nurse is in attendance at the school every
day during school hours .
School Canteen
Children bring their own packed lunch and a sufficient amount
of juice or water. They are able to buy healthy western
and traditional Mauritian foods as well as fruit, juice
and soft drinks from the canteen which operates in the school
grounds. Children are regularly given talks on healthy nutrition
and and the buying of sweets and candies is discouraged.
School Year
The School year starts in September and is divided into
three terms: Christmas, Easter and final term. Children
can be admitted at the start of any term depending on the
availability of places. We do not encourage children to
take leave during school term and will only grant permission
for this under exceptional circumstances.
